You can see the details of the task by using the command showtask -d task_id.Type y and press enter to confirm, it will start the task with a task id.Īre you sure you want to compact CPG 'FC_r5' ? Run the command compactcpg CPG_Name to compact the CPG as shown below in my case CPG name is FC_r5.Above step showing that if we compact the CPG named FC_r5 then around 3.7TB space will be reclaimed.Would move 0 MB SA space, 1571328 MB SD space, and 34816 MB USR space.įinal trim would reclaim 0 MB SA space, 3769344 MB SD space, and 27648 MB USR space.ġ8432 MB from LD ESXi_229_Datastore_2.usr.1ĩ216 MB from LD ESXi_229_Datastore_2.usr.0 Initial trim would reclaim 8192 MB SA space, 470016 MB SD space, and 0 MB USR space. Would move 0 MB SA space, 0 MB SD space, and 0 MB USR space.įinal trim would reclaim 0 MB SA space, 0 MB SD space, and 0 MB USR space. Initial trim would reclaim 0 MB SA space, 0 MB SD space, and 0 MB USR space. Run the compactcpg -dr CPG_Name command for all the CPGs and you will be able to find out which CPG(s) needs to be compacted to reclaim space.Run the showcpg command to see the details of available CPGs in the system.Login to 3PAR CLI as an admin user and run the command showsys -space to see the space details. Here I have shown the process step by step:

Solution How to reclaim space after removing virtual volume 3PARĪfter removing the virtual volumes in 3PAR, compact the CPG to reclaim the space. Also, when virtual volumes are deleted, it will retain some space in the CPG assuming that the space will be reused. This lets the CPG keep some chunklets pre-reserved. Reasonįree space was not increased because each CPG has a growth size.
#No stor serv systems detected 3par ssmc free
After deleting the virtual volumes free space should be increased by around 4TB but the HPE 3PAR management console was showing no change in the free space. I have deleted 2 virtual volumes to increase the free space. I find it strange they show as "free."ģpar ports 2.png ģPAR - host paths.png ģPAR - host settings.I have an HPE 3PAR StoreServ 7400. Second question: please have a look at the screenshots, and tell me if my 3PAR FC ports are correctly configured. I'm not sure my 3PAR FC hosts ports are configured correctly.įirst question: am I right in thinking that flat-SAN connectivity requires no special configuration or settings at the 3PAR side? (it does at the Synergy side, where you have to select direct-attached instead of fabric-attached). The other Synergy has also 4 FC uplinks, each to the other FC port of each controller node.įrom my Synergy systems, I can see the WWN's of my 3PAR.īut when I define hosts in 3PAR SSMC (with their correct WWN name), no connectivity shows up. Each Synergy 12000 frame has 4 FC uplinks, each to one FC port of my 4-node 3PAR. I'm setting up flat-SAN connectivity (no SAN switches involved) between a 3PAR 8440 and dual Synergy 12000.
